Since our last Newsletter in November,  Sri Lanka has endured some tough times. Cyclone Ditwah ravaged the island with significant impacts to our Northern and Central Highland landscapes and the communities that reside within them. A silver lining, if there is one, was that Invasive Alien Species (IAS) such as Salvinia and Water Hyacinth were swept away from aquatic ecosystems including in National Parks such as Wasgamuwa, due to the heavy outflow of water. With local philanthropic giving being diverted towards humanitarian needs, now more than ever, the work that the LEF engages in has become critical.
